World Health Day 2019
Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere
Posted on April 5th by Letara Buckley
On 7th April each year, there is a global focus on health awareness known as World Health Day. Sponsored by the World Health Organization, it has been commemorated on the same day each year since 1950. It is acknowledged by various government and non-government organizations with interests in public health issues. This year’s theme is ‘Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere.’
What is Universal Health Coverage (UHC)?
UHC is the practice of all communities receiving the health services they need without having to suffer financial hardship. It offers the full spectrum including medical treatment, rehabilitation, well-being promotion, and mental health care.

Alleviate Anxiety and Depression
Marisa Peer’s life-changing work can be used to help people break free from anxiety and depression. Much of her work is available for free online for everyone, everywhere. Marisa will help you realize that you are good enough in every way. Her powerful words remind
you that you are in control of your own happiness and how important it is to praise yourself every day.
If you or someone you know is suffering from anxiety or depression, do not feel alone or afraid to speak out. Your willingness to have a conversation about mental health could quite literally change your—or someone else’s—life.
Here are three tips to help get you started on alleviating anxiety and depression:
1. Realize the importance of self-esteem
2. Work on your diet and exercise
Exercise releases endorphins which benefit both our physical and mental health. Yoga and Tai Chi are particularly helpful in relaxation and attaining a feeling of serenity. Alongside your exercise regime, ensure that you fuel your body with the right foods. Avoid
caffeine, alcohol, sugar, artificial sweeteners, and trans fats. Nourish your body and mind with superfoods such as nuts and seeds, essentials oils, lean protein, fruit, and vegetables. Here’s a helpful guide for what to eat.
3. Do what you love
Following your heart’s desire diminishes the often depressing feeling of yearning for something you cannot have. Take the opportunity to change or improve your career, take up a new hobby, or learn new skills in something that has always interested you.
